Even though the movie ¡Yes, Virginia¡ takes place in 1897, it is a more update version of the story of Virginia O¡Hanlon than other adaptations of this story. The movie was made in 2009 and was completely done in all computer-generated animation.The story of the real Virginia O¡Hanlon is well-known as she was the girl who wrote to the ¡The Sun¡ newspaper asking if there really was a Santa Claus. She wrote to that particular newspaper because her father always told her that ¡If you see it in The Sun, it's so.¡ The paper¡s editor, Francis Church, responded to her letter letting her know that yes there was a Santa Claus and that he lived on in all of us.The movie ¡Yes, Virginia¡ is an adaptation of Virginia¡s history and is told in the form of animation. The movie was produced by Macy¡s and their ad agency and it originally aired for the first time on CBS in 2009.In the plot of this adaptation, eight-year-old Virginia and her classmates begin doubting that Santa is real. She sets off to find out herself whether or not he is real. Throughout the movie she questions her father on the matter, a librarian and a street Santa. She then decides to write to ¡The Sun.¡ At first the editor Francis Church doesn¡t respond because he feels that he doesn¡t have the time to deal with little girls asking about Santa. However, he is eventually persuaded to come up with a response. ¡Yes, Virginia¡ clocks in at 22 minutes in length and is usually shown in a 30 minute time block on CBS during the Christmas season. The movie has many known actors lending their voices for the film. Neil Patrick Harris voices Virginia¡s father, Dr. Philip O¡Hanlon, Beatrice Miller as young Virginia O¡Hanlon, Jennifer Love Hewitt as her mother, Laura and Alfred Molina as Francis Church.
